Badges can be collected from the registration desk located outside Door 1 of the Exhibition Centre. Registered attendees will receive an email a few days before the event with a unique barcode. This barcode will enable you to print your badge at a self-service scanner. You can do this either from your mobile device or a hard copy print out of the email.
PLEASE NOTE all attendees are required to provide photo identification to collect their badge and will be subject to mandatory bag checks before entering the event.
International visitors that are non-Australian passport holders will require a visa to enter Australia for arrival to Melbourne for IMARC
Arrival from UK & Europe
If you hold a passport from UK or Europe, you can apply for authorisation to travel to Australia online. The most common visa for these passport holders is the eVisitor (Business Stream) visa. There is no application or service fee. Applications can be made here.
Arrival from USA, Canada & Asia
Passport holders from USA, Canada or Asia can also apply for a visa online. The most common visa for these passport holders is the ETA (Business Entrant)(Subclass 601). There is no visa application charge for this visa but a service fee of AUD $20 is charged for online applications. Applications can be made here.
Please note: It can take time to receive a visa. Please begin the process of applying for a visa at least 45 days prior to your arrival into Australia.
Receiving a Letter of Invitation
Submitting an official Letter of Invitation from IMARC with your application is an important step in this process. The letter itself will not guarantee your application’s approval. The letter is merely supplementary information that explains an applicant’s intended travel purpose.
To receive a Letter of Invitation for IMARC please follow the instructions below:
- Register for IMARC
- During the registration process for IMARC, please state that you need a Letter of Invitation
- Upon request, be prepared to provide your date of birth and passport number to the IMARC customer service team.
Your letter of invitation will be emailed to you after your registration has been completed and your payment has been received.
Print your Letter of Invitation in colour and submit it with your visa application to the Embassy/Consulate alongside all other required documents.

We acknowledge that various groups are planning protests to coincide with this year’s International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC). We are working with the venue, local police and our security team to ensure minimal disruption to your arrival at the event and throughout your attendance. The groups that are protesting have held activities alongside IMARC over the past couple of years and have caused minimal disruption to the event.

GETTING TO THE MELBOURNE CONVENTION & EXHIBITION CENTRE
The SkyBus transports visitors directly from Melbourne Airport to Southern Cross train station.
Bus route 237 operates from Queen Victoria Market, via Southern Cross Station to Lorimer Street South Wharf from Monday to Friday. Lorimer Street is approximately a five minute walk to MCEC. There is also a coach pick up/drop off point at Bay 1, Convention Centre Place (closest to DFO South Wharf).

The closest train station is Southern Cross Station. Get off at Southern Cross Station and catch tram number 96, 109 or 12 as above. For further train timetable information and trip planning, visit the Victorian Public Transport website here.
Catch any of the following trams and get off at the stop 124A Casino/MCEC which will take you to the Clarendon Street entrance of MCEC:
- Route 96 – St Kilda to East Brunswick
- Route 109 – Port Melbourne to Box Hill
- Route 12 – Victoria Gardens to St Kilda
Alternatively catch tram number 70 or 75 and get off at Stop D5 on Flinders Street. Then take a short walk towards the Yarra River, across the Seafarers Bridge. For further tram timetable information and trip planning, visit the Victorian Public Transport website here.
If you’re driving to Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Exhibition Centre car park can be accessed via Normanby Road.
If you’re being dropped off at the Exhibition Centre, our Clarendon Street entrance is the closest entrance.
If you’re heading to the Exhibition Centre, ask your taxi or Uber driver to drop you off at MCEC’s Clarendon Street entrance. We have two nearby taxi ranks – Crown, Clarendon Street and DFO, Convention Centre Place.
When you arrive from Melbourne Airport (also known as Tullamarine Airport), you have three options.
- Catch a taxi from outside your terminal
- Request an Uber by following the signs outside your terminal to the pick up zones
- Catch the Skybus, which has a service called the Southbank Docklands Express that stops at the Clarendon Street entrance of MCEC. Receive 5% discount on purchasing tickets online by entering the promotional code ‘MCEC’.
