Capital Markets and Project Valuation for Geoscientists

  • 9:00 - 17:30
  • Monday, 28 October

This Capital Markets and Project Valuation for Geoscientists Workshop is presented by geologists and engineers who have transitioned to the financial markets.

This full-day workshop will offer an introduction to capital markets to those interested in the connection between corporate finance and mining. Attendees will be given the opportunity to evaluate a project quantitatively and present their opinion.

Dale Mah and Joe Mazumdar will facilitate this workshop which has been previously offered in Canada and Finland, and will be offered for the first time in Australia, as part of IMARC.

Here's what some previous attendees had to say about this workshop:

"I'd like to express my positive feedback of the course. I think the course went fantastic and I believe the large number and age diversity of attendees is definitely a success sign! That proves that there is a need and appetite of learning the economics of our industry from the geological community. I definitely think it calls for a second edition in future roundups."

- Project Geologist, Business Development

"I am sending you a note to let you know that I am really enjoying the short course. I am at the perfect stage in my career to absorb what is being said and it is presented in an easy to digest format. I am sure many of the people taking the course share my positive opinion and would agree that this course was needed for geo’s who want to better understand the capital markets side of our industry"

- New graduate geoscientist

"I had some basic knowledge of some the components individually, but it was really valuable putting all of them together in context. Understanding the flow and alternatives was excellent."

- EVP of a major mining company

"Just a short note to let you know that I really enjoyed the Capital Markets for Geologists course. I have some familiarity of many of the elements of your course, which I've gradually and incrementally accumulated over years in our industry. However, it was really enlightening to understand the entire value chain and ecosystem presented as an integrated package."

- EVP of a major mining company
