The Igniting METS Accelerator Program: Powered by KPMG Energise is an Australian-first joint initiative between METS Ignited and the Queensland Government to assist Mining, Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) companies. The Igniting METS accelerator program seeks to bring late-stage startups and SMEs together with leading resources sector corporates focused on innovative solutions, to drive greater industry collaboration and commercialisation outcomes across exploration, planning, production, environmental and social impact innovations.
The first intake of the Igniting METS accelerator is currently running in Brisbane from August to November 2017, as a pilot for a national program to be launched in 2018. KPMG fast-tracks the startup/SME participants through an intensive 12-week accelerator program of deep dive workshops, mentoring and engagement with industry leaders, entrepreneurs and subject matter experts from Queensland, around Australia and beyond. In parallel, the Corporate Stream of the Igniting METS accelerator has been designed to help large resources companies to embed innovation skills, capabilities and mindset into their corporate teams, whilst also creating access for them to late-stage innovative technology startups.
The Igniting METS Accelerator Showcase is an opportunity for mining and METS sector representatives to hear from startup/SME program participants as they enter the final weeks of the accelerator. Startups/SMEs will present a short, customer focused pitch highlighting how their products and services deliver practical solutions to key challenges within the industry. Additionally, representatives from KPMG and METS Ignited will be present during the Showcase to provide an overview about the Igniting METS accelerator and to discuss their perspective on the importance of this and future programs in shaping the competitiveness of the Australian METS and mining sector.
The Igniting METS session will be hosted by Program Director Ashley Brown.
