Alexandra Blood was appointed Executive Director of Mineral Resources in 2017. As part of the newly formed SA Department for Energy and Mining, her division is the lead environmental and technical regulator for the exploration, mining and quarrying sector, and home of the world renowned Geological Survey of South Australia. DEM has the challenge of balancing sector growth and supporting investment whilst ensuring responsible exploration and mineral production. As well as innovative policy, case management and regulatory functions, the division delivers high quality geoscientific data and advice as well as mineral development and investment strategies.
Alex has over 20 years global experience within mining, oil and gas, infrastructure and industrial projects and has a proven record of complex project delivery and leadership. She sits on the National Board for environmental professional certification and in 2012 Alex became the first woman named Environmental Practitioner of the Year by the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand.
