Over 25 years experience in various marketing and procurement roles, developing and executing strategy and leading global and diversified teams in multiple locations. Led sales and distribution teams through annual budget planning and delivery cycles, and project teams on major contract and joint venture establishment. Achievements include managing global uranium sales in excess of $400 million per annum, and negotiating an international mining joint venture with Chinese and Japanese partners valued at over $10 billion. Draws motivation from leading, developing, and working in effective teams to achieve superior business results. Recently returned to Melbourne for family reasons. Dan Zavattiero was with BHP Billiton from 1991 to 2013. Between May 2011 and March 2013 he was the General Manager Marketing – Uranium, based in Singapore; responsible for BHP Billiton’s uranium global sales and trading activities.
Dan has experience in commodity marketing across a range of raw materials. After completing his B. Ec (Hons), he joined BHP Steel in Melbourne 1991. In 1997, he relocated to Perth and joined the Minerals group and the iron ore marketing team. In 2001, Dan moved to Singapore following the merger of BHP and Billiton and the establishment of the centralised marketing model and the Singapore Marketing Hub office. In 2006, he moved to The Hague to lead BHP Billiton’s metallurgical coal, manganese and iron ore sales activities in Europe before returning to Singapore and joining the Base Metals and Uranium Marketing team as the Manager Distribution in 2008.
