Fay Cranmer joined Rio Tinto as Chief Information Officer (CIO) in September 2018. In this role, Fay leads a global team of information technology (IT) professionals in delivering digital solutions to create value for Rio Tinto’s operations. A passionate believer in the power of technology to help achieve business objectives, Fay is currently defining a new digital strategy to modernise Rio Tinto’s IT environment.
Prior to joining Rio Tinto, Fay was senior vice president and chief process and information officer for Canadian integrated energy company, Suncor Energy Inc, where she oversaw a significant transformation programme. A geophysicist by training, Fay has also held numerous senior roles across the energy sector globally as well as senior consulting roles in the energy and resources practices of Accenture and Deloitte.
Fay holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Durham and a Master of Science in Sedimentology from the University of London.
