Vice Minister of Mines, Fernando L. Benalcazar has been in the extractive industry for 26 years and has provided project management and support for numerous international projects in Syria, France, Canada, United States, Oman, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil and Ecuador. He focuses on new ventures, investment oportunites, operation excellence, sustainable development, and stakeholder engagement.
He has authored or coauthored more than 12 technical papers and holds a MS degree in civil engineering from COPPE at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He holds a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation in the USA and serves on SPE’s Sustainable Development Technical Section since 2012.
