Lynn Olssen FAusIMM(CP), GAICD
Lynn is General Manager – Resource Knowledge & Definition for Rio Tinto; leading a global team who provide orebody knowledge expertise for Rio Tinto Exploration. She also Chairs the Rio Tinto Orebody Knowledge Leadership Forum which is a group wide forum focusing on talent, capability development, strategy and risk. She is a geologist by background with over 25 years’ experience in the mining industry.
Prior to Rio Tinto, Lynn worked in operational and consulting roles, most recently as General Manager Operations for Snowden Mining Consultants.Lynn is a past Chair of the national AusIMM WIMnet committee and sits on the state WIMWA summit committee and WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy (CME) Gender Diversity Reference Group committee. She is the Chair for the 2019 AusIMM International Mine Geology Conference and also chairs the Rio Tinto Exploration Inclusion & Diversity committee for Australasia.
Lynn has spent much of her career training and mentoring young mining professionals. She has been involved as a formal mentor in the WIMWA mentoring program since it commenced in 2012. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the 12 month Women in Leadership Advanced Leadership Program in 2013 and is also a recipient of the 2014 MCA Women in Mining Scholarship for the AICD Company Director’s Course. Lynn was awarded a place on the 100 Inspirational Women in Mining list in 2018.
Lynn has two daughters and spent several years on their school board as Secretary and Chair.
