As Director of CSIRO’s Education and Outreach team Mary Mulcahy leads a team of over 100 people all around Australia who deliver high quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education programs for teachers, students and the community. She has been in her current role since February 2015.
For the 15 years prior to that she held senior communication roles in CSIRO and tertiary education providers. Prior to moving into mainstream communication roles, she managed outreach education centres for universities and experiential learning centres. These roles allowed her to travel and work in all Australian states and territories as well as New Zealand and Malaysia.
She has also worked as a high school teacher and freshwater ecologist. Mary has an honours degree in science from the University of Tasmania and a Graduate Diploma in Science Communication from ANU.
