Melanie McCarthy (FAusIMM CP) was appointed General Manager of Mandalay Resources Costerfield Operations in 2017 and prior to that was the Underground Mine Manager. The Costerfield operation produces the critical mineral antimony and exports to China from regional Australia. The operation uses innovative narrow vein mining techniques and is acclaimed in creating value for the Costerfield and Heathcote communities by partnering with organisations to create assets that improve liveability and prosperity.
Melanie is committed to helping technical people be exceptional leaders and is a qualified leadership coach and mentor. Melanie is an experienced chairperson and non executive director, having held roles in the government sector in natural resource management and in private agribusiness.
Melanie holds degrees in Chemical Engineering, and in Arts from the University of Melbourne, a Masters in Engineering Science from the University of NSW and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
