Michelle is a Financial Controller of Glencore Coal Assets Australia. Michelle currently sits on the Board of Directors of multiple companies within the Glencore group. Additionally, she fulfils the role of Chairman of the Board at several of our Joint Ventures.
Michelle has extensive experience in Finance and Management gained from senior positions held in global mining companies and “big four” accounting firms over the past two decades. Michelle has worked in a variety of areas including Commercial Services, Audit, Taxation and Credit Risk Management.
With the support and understanding of her husband and extended family, Michelle successfully oversees multiple businesses, as well as managing her young high school aged son and household.
Michelle is an advocate for the mining industry’s development and improvement and she strongly believes women are part of its future. She volunteers in Women in Mining NSW’s mentoring programme each year, which aims to develop a structured, sustainable mentoring process that supports female mentees through career guidance and direction in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
In 2015 Michelle was awarded NSW Women in Mining winner for Gender Diversity Champion, finalist in the Women in Resources National Awards and also acknowledged as one of the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining 2016. In February 2018 she carried the Queen’s Baton at the XXI Commonwealth Games in recognition of her community contributions.
Michelle has a Bachelor of Commerce from James Cook University, is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand and AusIMM – The Minerals Institute, Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Justice of the Peace in NSW and Co-Chair of the WIMnet NSW Committee.
