Nic Limb is the Chairman of FAR Limited, an ASX (ASX: FAR) listed oil exploration and development company. Nic qualified as a geophysicist and worked through the late 70’s and 80’s in the mineral exploration field in Australia. He then worked for a number of years in banking as a resource specialist involved in financing and merger and acquisitions.
In 1993 he formed and became Managing Director of a listed exploration company that grew over the next 7 years into a large gold producer in Australia and was subsequently taken over in 2001.
In 1996 he formed Mineral Deposits becoming its long serving Executive Chairman. MDL was an Australian mineral sands producer which moved its focus to Senegal in West Africa in 2003 and under his leadership developed a large gold mine in the east of the country which came into operation in 2009. In 2011 Mineral Deposits began development of one of the largest mineral sands projects in the world which came into production in 2014. Mineral Deposits has recently been taken over.
In 2011 he became Chairman of FAR Limited, a West African focussed oil explorer. In 2014, in Senegal, FAR and its partners made what was the largest offshore oil discovery in the world that year. Subsequently FAR has expanded its foot print in other countries in West Africa while drilling out and progressing the 2014 Senegal discovery toward a development starting in 2020.
