Toby Whincup has 19 years professional experience, 15 with ERM, where he was made a Partner in 2007. Toby Whincup has undertaken a number of senior management roles in Australia and Asia Pacific, with accountability for strategic assessment of market opportunity, and through this the development of, and accountability for, implementing business growth and protection plans. Staff and contractor health and safety, financial performance, compliance with internal and country specific corporate requirements, recruitment and staff development.
Through Toby Whincup’s project work he have gained a wide range of technical experience in the mining, oil and gas and infrastructure sectors, with particular focus on developing and implementing strategies to attain and maintain the environmental and social license to operate for major capital projects, compliance programs for operating facilities, and due diligence support during the transaction process. Many of these projects have often occurred in remote, logistically challenging areas of developing countries, and have been high profile, and at times, controversial.
Toby Whincup have completed projects in Asia (Brunei, China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam), Africa (Ethiopia, South Africa and Sudan), Australia and North America. My professional experience has included long term postings in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
