Tom Reid is a multi-disciplined communications, media and public policy professional with an array of experience managing complex stakeholders and projects.
Reporting to AMMA’s Directors, Tom is responsible for the Australian Resources and Energy Group’s policy, external affairs and member communications activities.
This includes coordination of AMMA’s workplace relations policy and advocacy program, associated government and media relations strategies, and national communications and stakeholder management campaigns.
He also consults to AMMA members across the Australian resources and energy industry on strategic internal and external communications activities, including crisis management protocols and enterprise bargaining communications plans.
Since joining AMMA in 2011, Tom has developed and led AMMA’s public campaigns in support of its 2013 and 2016 Federal Election Policy Platform, and its comprehensive submission to the Productivity Commission’s 2015 review of Australia’s workplace relations framework.
He has also led various campaigns to counter trade union and anti-industry activism; built AMMA’s Centenary marketing project, and founded and continues to edit AMMA’s widely-circulated industry magazine Resource People.
Before moving into public policy and communications management, Tom was a specialist business and legal journalist who covered breaking news and wrote extensively on Australia’s resources and energy industry.
He holds a Bachelor of Communications from Griffith University and a Master of Business Administration from Southern Cross University’s Post-Graduate School of Management.
