Tony Knight is the Queensland Chief Government geologist. His primary role, and that of the Geological Survey of Queensland that he leads, is to enable industry success and attract ongoing investment to the Queensland resources sector.
Tony began his current role in early 2016 after an extensive career in the resources sector where he worked for companies including Shell, BHP, BMA, Anglo American and Arrow Energy. He has worked in open-cut and underground coal mining and exploration in the Illawarra, Hunter Valley and Bowen Basin coalfields.
Tony is a strong advocate for the resources sector, familiar with the challenges it faces and optimistic about the many opportunities available to sustain and improve this most important sector.
