Dr Xiaoling Liu is a non-executive director on the Boards of Newcrest, South 32, Iluka and the Melbourne Business School.
Prior to commencing her career as a non-executive director in 2015, Xiaoling Liu spent twenty-six years with Rio Tinto Group where she held various senior management roles including General Manager Bell Bay Aluminum Smelter, Managing Director Global Technical Services, President Primary Metal Pacific – responsible for five aluminum smelters in three countries. In her last executive role as President and Chief Executive Officer of Rio Tinto Minerals based in Denver, Xiaoling Liu successfully led integrated mining, processing, supply chain, sales and marketing operations in the United States, Europe and Asia with profit and loss accountability for Rio Tinto’s Borates business.
Xiaoling Liu was elected in 2017 as a Fellow of Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and a member of the Chief Executive Women organization in Australia. Xiaoling Liu majored in extractive metallurgy with a Bachelor degree from Chongqing University in China and PhD from Imperial College in UK. Xiaoling Liu is a Fellow of AusIMM and Graduate of AICD.
